Live catalog prices
How do you quote with live catalog prices?
The model does not write the price: the server resolves it from the price field your catalog declares, and when that value cannot be verified, Eva leaves the line pending instead of naming a number.

Being able to quote with live catalog prices is the difference between a fast answer and an answer you can stand behind: the buyer keeps the number they were given, and your team has to honour it.
The quoting page covers the job end to end. This one covers the other half: exactly where Eva's price comes from, how your own system is connected so it can be checked at answer time, and what happens on the day the catalog does not refresh.
Your catalog price
Read from your catalog at reply time
The price comes from your catalog at the moment of the reply.
Before and after
Today
The price list lives in a file somebody updated weeks ago, the real system lives somewhere else, and whoever answers picks the number they remember. By the time the price turns out to have changed, the quote is already out, and correcting it costs somebody the relationship.
With Eva
The number comes from the price field your catalog declares, with the right variant and the currency you configured. If you connected a detail lookup, price and stock are requested from your system at the moment of answering. If something fails, Eva keeps serving the last valid catalog and invents no price.
How it works
- 1. Your catalog, by file, by API or from Shopify
Upload a CSV, JSON or XLS/XLSX file of up to fifty megabytes, connect an API that Eva calls every twenty-four hours, or connect your Shopify store. You choose the field the agent searches by, mark a unique identifier so products sharing a name stay distinguishable, and decide which fields the agent may see: internal cost or a warehouse note stays out.
- 2. The server resolves the price, not the model
When your catalog declares where the price comes from, the price, currency and unit fields are removed from the tool's form: the agent only states which product and how much the customer asked for, and the server supplies the number. If the selector points at more than one value, or the currency is undefined, the result is a pending line naming what is missing, never a number picked at random.
- 3. Live lookups and deterministic maths
You can connect a second request that Eva calls when it fetches the product record, bringing back current stock and price, and choose which of those fields are shown. Discounts, measurements and payment plans are declared as catalog computed rules, and the arithmetic runs through an exact calculator: the model presents the number, it does not do the maths in its head.

What Eva needs
- A catalog loaded by file, connected by API or brought in from Shopify, with the search field chosen and a unique identifier wherever names repeat.
- The fields marked visible to the agent, currency included, so the price it gives has something to be verified against.
- A per-product detail endpoint if you want current price and stock, with its method, headers and authentication.
- Your commercial rules written as computed rules: discounts, unit conversions, price per unit and payment plans.
Good to know
- Eva does not claim your catalog is always up to date. API sources sync every twenty-four hours and file sources refresh when you upload them again.
- If a sync fails, Eva keeps answering from the last valid catalog and the status card says the refresh needs attention. Nothing is wiped, but the value may be yesterday's.
- A field missing from the live response does not clear the last valid catalog value: an absent key is not evidence that stock is zero.
- When a price cannot be verified, the line is stored as a draft naming what is missing and the quote carries no number for it. That is deliberate: an incomplete quote beats an invented one.
- A negotiated or specially discounted price is not a catalog price. Eva neither invents nor accepts one through this path; a person agrees it.
- Search returns up to twenty-five candidates, the detail lookup returns only the visible fields, and each catalog holds up to fifteen thousand products.
- The calculator guarantees the arithmetic, not your formula. If the rule you declared is wrong, the result will be wrong with perfect precision.
