WhatsApp statistics in Mexico

WhatsApp Business statistics in Mexico

WhatsApp reaches nine out of ten Mexican internet users, messaging is the country's number one smartphone activity, and across the 22 markets Meta and Kantar surveyed three out of four consumers prefer dealing with businesses by message. Below are the full figures, each with its source, link and year.

This page gathers the numbers you can actually cite, each with the right label: primary sources like INEGI, AMVO, Banxico and Meta's own disclosures, plus reputable secondary reporting like Statista with GWI data, DataReportal, TechCrunch, Marketing4ecommerce and Expansión. It also carries three measurements nobody else has, because they come from the real operation of the Eva platform and are an internal aggregate.

Every statistic carries its source with a link, its year and its scope: if a figure is about Mexico it says so, and if it is a global 22-market finding it says that too. If you write about conversational commerce in Mexico, you can cite this page with confidence; it is refreshed quarterly and the date of the last review sits at the foot.

How to read these figures

The tables are grouped in five blocks: WhatsApp adoption in Mexico, what consumers expect from businesses, the size of conversational commerce, the digital payments context, and the Eva platform's own data. The charts summarize the essentials; the tables carry the detail with every source and its scope.

Two reading warnings the data itself demands. The six Meta and Kantar figures cover 22 markets together, not Mexico: they explain the preference for messaging, they do not establish anything about the Mexican consumer in particular. And the three Eva platform figures are an internal sample of ours, not a replicable study: we publish them with their full methodology so you can weigh them.

We deliberately discarded the viral figures that circulate without a traceable source, like the small-business sales percentages no primary study backs. If a number is not here, odds are we could not verify it.

Methodology of Eva's own data

The three original figures come from the platform's real operation: 36,929 real messages from customers of Mexican businesses on the platform, measured over a 90-day window to August 14, 2026, in central Mexico time. Office hours are defined as Monday to Friday, nine in the morning to six in the evening. Test traffic is excluded. It is an anonymous aggregate: it identifies no customers, businesses or conversations, and it is not externally reproducible.

With that sample in view, the reading that matters: one in three messages arrives once most businesses have closed. We do not measure how many of those businesses answer later or how long they take, so we do not claim it.

Methodology

  • Primary sources and reputable secondary reporting, each cited with its link: as primary sources, INEGI ENDUTIH 2025, AMVO Online Sales Study 2025 and 2026, Banxico, Meta's Q3 2025 earnings call, Meta's newsroom and the Meta and Kantar State of Business Messaging 2025 study across 22 markets; as secondary reporting, Statista with GWI data, DataReportal Digital 2026 Mexico, TechCrunch, Marketing4ecommerce and Expansión.
  • Eva platform data is an anonymous internal aggregate: 36,929 real messages from customers of Mexican businesses on the platform, 90 days to August 14, 2026, central Mexico time, office hours defined as Monday to Friday nine to six, excluding test traffic. It is not externally reproducible.
  • Last verification of every link and figure: August 14, 2026. Quarterly refresh.

Put Eva to work.

In our own sample, one in three messages arrives after hours. Eva answers them on the spot, quotes from your catalog and records every sale. Write to us and we will show you with your operation.
