Messaging after 24 hours
How do I message a customer on WhatsApp after 24 hours without writing templates?
With Eva you message a customer on WhatsApp after 24 hours without writing templates: you write the normal message as if the window were still open, and Eva turns it into a template, files it with Meta and delivers it the moment it is approved.
The 24-hour window has closed and the message you meant to send cannot go out. Messaging a customer on WhatsApp after 24 hours without writing templates is exactly what Eva does: you write the normal message, with the real price, the real reference and the real question, and Eva handles the template paperwork.
Outside the conversation window, Meta only lets an approved template through. Eva checks your account's approved library: when a template already carries your message without losing information, it is reused and the message goes out immediately; when none carries it honestly, Eva writes the template for you, files it with Meta and parks delivery until Meta approves it.
Those approval times are measured, not promised. In the 10 to 16 September 2026 measurement, across 414 approved follow-up templates on the platform, half were approved in under 10 minutes, 72 per cent in under 15 and 94 per cent in under 25; the longest case took 23 hours, and Meta rejected none that week. Over 30 days the sample grows to 862 approved templates, with medians of 10.2 and 11.5 minutes depending on the category.
The precise claim matters: without you writing templates, not without templates. The template still exists, Meta still reviews it, and Meta can still reject it.
Before and after
Today
The 24-hour window is shut and the message to the customer is stuck. Somebody has to open Meta's template manager, invent a body generic enough for anyone and wait for approval before a word can go out. Forgetting usually wins.
With Eva
You write the message as if the window were still open. Eva decides whether an approved template already carries it as-is or files a new one for you, and the conversation shows you where it stands: sent, waiting for approval, or stopped with its reason.
How it works
- 1. You write the normal message, as if the window were still open
With the window closed, you type the text you wanted to send. No category to pick, no variables to fill, no trip to Meta's template manager. Eva delivers your exact words when an identical approved template already exists.
- 2. Eva turns your message into a template and files it with Meta
Eva compares your message against the account's approved library. It reuses a template only when what the customer will read says the same thing without dropping information or repeating an answer they already got. When nothing qualifies, Eva writes the new template for you, files it with Meta and parks delivery until approval.
- 3. If the customer replies first, your original text goes out
When the customer writes before Meta approves, the window opens and your original text is delivered as-is, with no template in between. On an agent follow-up the same reply cancels the pending send instead: the conversation has moved on, and Eva answers what the customer just said.
What Eva needs
- A WhatsApp Business number connected to Eva, with its WhatsApp Business account and a valid payment method for templates.
- A prior inbound WhatsApp conversation from that customer: a saved CRM contact is not enough, and first contact goes out from Campaigns with an approved marketing template.
- The follow-up defined on the agent, by inactivity or by date, if Eva should come back without anyone remembering.
- The number's quality rating in good standing: at yellow, minting new templates is paused, and at red the bridge sends are paused too.
Good to know
- Meta reviews every new template and can reject it. Eva re-authors it using Meta's verbatim rejection reason and files it again; after three submissions for the same intent it enters a cooldown and the case goes to a person.
- Delivery waits for approval, and Meta decides every approval. The times on this page are one week's measurement, 10 to 16 September 2026, not a promise: the longest case that week took 23 hours, the distribution shifts with the account, the category and Meta's load, and on 16 September 172 templates were still undecided.
- A parked delivery expires after 48 hours and waits for a person to decide.
- There are quotas: up to 30 automated submissions per hour per WhatsApp Business account, daily caps that tighten after a recent rejection, and a budget of active templates the automatic cleanup keeps.
- Sending a template does not open the 24-hour window. The customer's reply opens it.
- A due follow-up does not guarantee a message: Eva can decide the right move is to stay quiet, and that event stays visible in the conversation.
- Without you writing templates does not mean any content at all. Meta's category and content rules still decide what can be sent.
- Manychat documents sending outside the window through approved templates (help.manychat.com, WhatsApp templates guide, accessed 9 September 2026). This page does not claim other platforms cannot do it.
