Chatbase alternatives
What are the best alternatives to Chatbase?
Chatbase builds AI agents trained on your own documentation: you feed it your site, your PDFs and your help articles, and within minutes you have an agent answering in your website widget with real precision, plus actions that actually do something, a decent API and connectors for Stripe, Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify and Calendly. At that job it is among the best there is, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
The comparison shows up when the selling moves to WhatsApp, when the credit meter starts making decisions for you, or when a dollar invoice with no local entity stops working for your accountant. We compare five alternatives using each vendor's published prices and limits. Eva is our product, so we disclose the criteria and the order. The Chatbase, Wizybot and respond.io figures were verified on 14 August 2026.
5 real options
Why people look for an alternative to Chatbase
The first reason is WhatsApp. In Chatbase's own plan table the channel starts on Standard at $120 USD per month: neither the free plan nor Hobby, at $32 USD per month, connects it. For a Mexican business where selling happens on WhatsApp, the entry plan does not serve the main channel, and the jump from Hobby to Standard nearly quadruples the monthly bill to buy a channel rather than a new capability.
The second is the credit as a hard meter. The free plan includes 50 credits per month, Hobby 700, Standard 4,000 and Pro 15,000, and a top-up costs $40 USD per additional 1,000 credits. It is a clear, published unit, which is worth something — but it is a unit that runs out on your good weeks: the more people write to you, the faster you hit the end of the allowance.
The third is what happens to your agent when you stop using it. Chatbase publishes that on the free plan agents are deleted after 14 days of inactivity. With one agent, one seat and one megabyte of material, that plan is for trying the product and nothing else: do not use it as a backup for anything you care about.
The fourth is the per-item charges. An additional agent costs $300 USD per year, and removing the Powered by Chatbase mark from your own widget costs $1,188 USD per year. Seats are counted tightly too: one on the free plan, two on Hobby, three on Standard and five on Pro, with Pro at $400 USD per month. If your support team is six people, the arithmetic stops resembling that of a shared inbox.
The fifth is that it is written for the English-speaking market. It bills in dollars only and publishes no peso price, Mexican entity, VAT treatment or CFDI commitment, and its Enterprise plan publishes no price at all. None of that is a product defect; it simply means the administrative half of your purchase falls outside the conversation.
Criteria
- It publishes a price. An alternative that only quotes on a call cannot be compared, so all five publish at least one list price.
- It brings WhatsApp on the entry plan, because that is the most common reason to leave Chatbase from Mexico.
- It publishes its billing unit and its overage cost: what gets counted matters, not just the monthly figure.
- It can be bought from Mexico today, even when it bills in dollars; where no Mexican entity or local invoicing is published, this page says so.
- Every claim here links to the vendor's public page and carries its verification date.
Eva is our product and appears on this list, so the list is not neutral by nature; that is why every row links the public page it came from. The Chatbase, Wizybot and respond.io prices were verified on 14 August 2026; the Aurora Inbox and Kommo prices on 28 July 2026. Every figure is printed in the currency its vendor publishes, without conversion: Chatbase bills in dollars only and publishes no peso rate card, so no converted Chatbase figure appears anywhere on this page, and its Enterprise plan is absent because it publishes no price.
Five real alternatives
1. Eva
Best for: Anyone who needs Eva's five foundations: Eva does the work, not just the talking: She quotes from your real catalog, books, takes payment, invoices and follows up for months — inside the same conversation. A built-in CRM where everything organizes itself: Every prospect is captured, classified and managed automatically, and Eva works with your team: handoff to a person with the full history. Every channel included: WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, calls, email and your website — including Instagram comments and TikTok ad comments. AI is already in the price: No separate accounts and no extra AI charges: each agent reply uses one plan credit, and that is it. Public pricing: Plans, add-ons and setup published, with a verification date on every figure on this page. From $191 USD per month on an annual plan ($229 USD month to month).
Tradeoff: From $191 USD per month on an annual plan ($229 USD month to month) on Essential, with 5,000 credits and 5 users included; a 1,000-credit top-up costs $49 USD and each extra user is $17 USD per month. Setup is purchased separately from $579 USD (half price with an annual plan) and payment inside the conversation runs on SPEI. Eva is built around the whole commercial conversation rather than around a website widget: if what you need is a support agent finely trained on technical documentation, with actions and an API for your digital product, that row still belongs to Chatbase. There is also no public self-serve signup or free trial today.
Source2. Wizybot
Best for: A Shopify store that wants the agent answering this week without paying per seat: a single public plan, unlimited human agents, WhatsApp campaigns with no published cap, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and email channels, unlimited AI messages in the first month and no implementation fee.
Tradeoff: $69.99 USD every 30 days, with 1,250 AI messages and 2,500 AI comments per month; each extra message costs $0.07 USD and each extra comment $0.05 USD, so the hard meter does not disappear, it just changes its name. Its Custom plan publishes no price. It is built for e-commerce: we found nothing equivalent to Chatbase's fine training on documentation or its actions, and it bills in dollars only.
Source3. respond.io
Best for: A mid-size or large team that needs a genuine multi-agent inbox: users included per plan, workflows, reporting, an API and a seven-day trial with no card, with every meter published before you talk to a salesperson.
Tradeoff: From $79 USD per month billed yearly on Starter, but AI Agents start on Growth at $159 USD per month, and Advanced costs $279 USD per month. Four meters run at once — subscription, users, monthly active contacts and AI credits — and Meta's WhatsApp fees sit outside on a balance you top up yourself. An extra block of 1,000 AI credits costs $15 USD, and there is a hard cap: at twice the included allowance the AI switches off. It bills in dollars only and publishes no Mexican entity or CFDI.
Source4. Aurora Inbox
Best for: Anyone leaving Chatbase over the invoice. Aurora publishes a monthly peso price with three users included on every plan, an AI agent with 800 monthly responses from the entry plan, the three Meta channels, and invoicing with Mexican tax identifiers and downloadable CFDI files.
Tradeoff: $1,800 MXN per month plus VAT for Aurora CRM, and $240 MXN per month plus VAT for each additional user or channel. It publishes no AI-response overage price, so that row has to be asked about before signing. And it is not a platform for agents trained on your documentation: it is an inbox with an agent, without the actions and fine tuning Chatbase publishes.
Source5. Kommo
Best for: Anyone who discovers that what they lack is not a website agent but a sales CRM: visual pipeline, tasks, contact records and campaign analytics, with messaging inside and several WhatsApp numbers.
Tradeoff: $15 USD per paid user per month on Básico, with no monthly option: the published minimum is six months prepaid, meaning $90 USD per seat before you start. The autonomous agent starts on Avanzado at $25 USD per paid user per month and is not available to new Básico customers. It bills in dollars only and publishes no peso rate card or CFDI commitment, so the invoice problem is not solved on that side.
Source
Eva is our product and comes first, so these are the criteria: published pricing, WhatsApp on the entry plan, published billing unit and overage, availability to buy from Mexico, and claims with a source and a date. Eva comes first because it combines an agent that executes, an included CRM, every channel, AI inside the price and a public rate card. Wizybot follows for Shopify stores that want to start within days; respond.io for large teams that want the mature inbox; Aurora for buyers who need pesos and CFDI; and Kommo for anyone who actually wants a per-seat sales CRM. Chatbase keeps a clear, published advantage: agents trained on your documentation, with actions, an API and integrations, for your website widget. If your product is digital, your documentation is good and web support is the job, stay where you are.
What switching actually involves
The first step is understanding what actually travels. A trained agent does not export: what moves is the sources you trained it on — your site, your PDFs, your help articles — and the work of curating them. Keep them organized before you cancel; rebuilding the agent elsewhere means re-indexing that material, and it goes far faster when the material is still complete.
The second is the WhatsApp number, if you got as far as connecting it on Standard or above. That number lives on Meta's official API, so changing platforms means migrating the WhatsApp Business account between providers inside Meta, with verification in the middle. Plan for days rather than minutes, and ask for the release procedure in writing before you sign with the next vendor.
The third is the annual charges. If you bought additional agents at $300 USD per year, or removed the branding for $1,188 USD per year, check what happens to what you already paid before cancelling: those are twelve-month commitments, not monthly fees, and it is better to know the answer beforehand. The same goes for any credit top-ups you have not spent.
The fourth is the free plan, which bites. If you left older agents there expecting to keep them, remember that Chatbase publishes that they are deleted after 14 days of inactivity. Download whatever you want to keep — the sources, the answers you wrote, your conversations — before you leave the account idle.
The fifth is configuring the replacement. With Eva, guided setup is prepared from your website and catalog and you approve it at no cost, while assisted setup costs $579 USD once, delivered within five business days of receiving complete inputs. With Wizybot, respond.io, Aurora and Kommo the configuration is yours to build beyond whatever the plan includes. Budget one month paying both vendors too: nobody switches off a support channel to test another one.
And on our side, so you know what is left for you: we handle the number's migration inside Meta ourselves, the same way we handle your company's verification. Your contacts come into Eva by CSV or Excel file, with deduplication on import; your catalog comes in by file or by API; and on top of that a contact is created and updated on its own the moment the person writes. Ask your current vendor for the export and we go through it with you during setup, before you cancel anything.
FAQ
What does Chatbase cost with WhatsApp?
The channel starts on Standard at $120 USD per month, with 4,000 credits, three seats and 20 megabytes of training material. Neither the free plan nor Hobby, at $32 USD per month, connects WhatsApp. If your selling happens on WhatsApp, that is the real entry price — not the Hobby figure that appears first in the table.
What does the Chatbase free plan include?
Fifty credits per month, one agent, one seat and one megabyte of material, plus a warning worth reading: Chatbase publishes that free-plan agents are deleted after 14 days of inactivity. It is fine for trying the product, which is what it is for, but not for parking anything you would hate to lose.
What does Chatbase charge for separately?
Credit top-ups cost $40 USD per additional 1,000. An extra agent costs $300 USD per year, and removing the Powered by Chatbase mark from your widget costs $1,188 USD per year. Seats run from one on the free plan to five on Pro, which costs $400 USD per month with 15,000 credits. The Enterprise plan publishes no price.
Which ones bill in pesos and issue Mexican CFDI invoices?
Aurora Inbox publishes its price in pesos plus VAT and documents Mexican tax identifiers and CFDI downloads. Eva publishes pesos plus VAT inside Mexico and also issues CFDI invoices on your customers' behalf through Facturapi when the tax profile is complete. Chatbase, Wizybot, respond.io and Kommo bill in dollars and publish no Mexican entity or local invoicing commitment.
Who should stay with Chatbase?
A digital product with good documentation whose main job is answering questions on the website. Training an agent on your articles, your PDFs and your pages, giving it actions, wiring it by API to Stripe, Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify or Calendly and putting it in the widget is exactly what it does well. If that describes your operation, switching vendors would cost you more than it solves.
What do I lose by leaving Chatbase?
You lose the fine tuning on documentation that Chatbase does very well, and that deserves to be said. What you gain is the whole commercial conversation: Eva handles WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, calls, email and your website, answers Instagram comments and TikTok ad comments, quotes from your real catalog, books, takes payment, invoices and follows up for months, with a CRM included and no separate AI charge.
