Best AI agents for WhatsApp
The best AI agents for WhatsApp
Scored on six criteria built for a small business in Mexico, the best AI agents for WhatsApp, the ones that quote, book or update the CRM and hand off to a person besides answering, are respond.io (72 out of 100), Dapta (50), Chatbase (48) and Aurora Inbox (48); Eva, our product, ranks 5 of 11 with 46.
EvaAI publishes this guide and sells Eva, which is scored by the same rules as everything else on the list. Updated October 28, 2026: that day we tried to open the free trial of six of these tools, and the prices come from the WhatsApp price index read on October 23 and 24, 2026 and from each vendor's fact sheet. Next review: November 28, 2026.
Unlike a chatbot, an AI agent does something with the conversation: it quotes, books, changes a contact or a CRM stage, collects payment or hands off to a person with context. That is why the heaviest criterion is what the agent can do on the plan you pay for. respond.io comes first largely because its trial was the only other vendor's that let us build an agent and the only one that handed off to a person: what we saw scores 5 out of 5 and what the others only document scores 3; for a business in Mexico it also counts that it bills in dollars and publishes no CFDI invoicing.
What are the best AI agents for WhatsApp?
The table orders the eleven options by their points out of 100, using the six criteria in the next section. The last column says how far a trial account got on October 28, 2026.
| Rank and option | Points | Best for | Oct 28 trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. respond.io | 72 | A multichannel team that wants to try today | Agent built: answered 3 questions and handed off |
| 2. Dapta | 50 | Text and voice agents with no-code flows | Not attempted: its trial asks for a card |
| 3. Chatbase | 48 | Actions with Calendly, Stripe or Shopify | Free account, no agent: it asked for a paid plan |
| 4. Aurora Inbox | 48 | Pesos, CFDI and an agent that books | Not attempted: its trial is paid |
| 5. Eva | 46 | An agent that quotes, books, collects and follows up | Local test: answered 3 questions; no handoff |
| 6. Clientify | 42 | CRM and marketing in Spanish with AI flows | Account created; signup stalled at the currency step |
| 7. Kommo | 42 | An agent inside a visual sales board | No account: it rejected our alias email |
| 8. Leadsales | 42 | A Mexican team that qualifies in stages | No usable account: it asks to verify a personal WhatsApp |
| 9. Wati | 40 | The WhatsApp API with an included agent at a low price | No account: it asks for a personal phone |
| 10. Vambe | 36 | An implementation done by the vendor | Not attempted: it is bought with an implementation |
| 11. Mercately | 32 | Catalog, orders and an agent in one place | Not attempted: it offers to book a demo |
Which criteria did we score them on?
Each criterion scores 0 to 5 and is multiplied by its weight. What we saw in a trial scores 5; what the vendor documents but we could not see scores 3, not zero; what it does not publish scores 0. A tie goes to the lower cost, never to the publisher of the list.
| Criterion | Weight | How it is scored |
|---|---|---|
| Acts on the sale: quotes, books or updates the CRM | 30 | On the plan priced in the table: 5 if we saw it quote, book or change a record in the trial; 3 if it documents at least two kinds of action (quoting from your catalog, booking, updating contacts or stages, collecting payment); 1 if it documents only one or only says it handles the conversation; 0 if it publishes none. |
| Hands the conversation to a person | 20 | 5 if it handed the conversation to a person with context in the trial; 3 if the vendor documents the agent assigning, escalating or alerting the team; 1 if in the trial, with default settings, it handed off to nobody, if it only documents a person taking the chat by hand or if it only shows it in customer stories. |
| WhatsApp connection | 15 | 5 if the trial showed its screen for connecting through the official WhatsApp Business API (Meta's route for businesses), though we connected no number; 3 if the vendor documents it; 1 if it documents WhatsApp without saying how it connects. |
| Monthly cost with the agent, for three people | 15 | Cheapest plan with WhatsApp and the AI agent for one number and three people, in pesos: up to MXN 1,500 scores 5, up to MXN 3,000 scores 3, above that 1. A required charge with no published price drops one step. |
| Mexican invoice (CFDI) | 10 | 5 if it documents CFDI invoices; 3 if it documents Mexican invoicing without naming CFDI; 0 if it publishes nothing on it. |
| Starting without a sales call | 10 | 5 if the free trial let us into the product with no card or phone; 3 if it advertises a trial with no visible charge but signup stopped at a requirement; 1 if there is no trial, the trial is paid or it asks for a card to start. |
Where does each score come from?
Each cell is that criterion's 0 to 5 score; the points add up each score times its weight, divided by 5.

What does the agent cost a month in pesos and dollars?
This is the cheapest plan with WhatsApp and the AI agent, for one number and three people, before tax. Equivalents use the European Central Bank rates of October 22, 2026; the messages Meta charges for are extra on every option.
| Option | Plan and billing | ≈ MXN a month | ≈ USD a month | Price read | CFDI | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| respond.io | $159 USD a month on Growth billed yearly, the first plan with AI agents; 10 users | ≈ MXN 2,983 | ≈ USD 159 | Index, Oct 23, 2026 | Not published | 7 days; we got in with no card or phone |

What can each agent do, and how does it hand off to a person?
“Documented” means the vendor publishes it in its help center or pricing page; “advertised” means it says so on a sales page; “we saw it” means it showed up in our trial. We saw no action run on a real customer.
| Option | What the agent does | Handoff to a person | |
|---|---|---|---|
| respond.io | Official API (we saw it) | Updates contact fields and stages, assigns and books (documented) | Handed off to a person with a summary (we saw it) |
| Dapta | Official API (documented) | Books, handles quote requests and passes prospects to your external CRM (advertised) | Assigns a person in its inbox (documented) |
| Chatbase | WhatsApp documented, route not stated | Actions: booking with Cal or Calendly, Stripe, Shopify and your APIs (documented) | Escalates and opens a ticket (documented) |
| Aurora Inbox | Official API or WhatsApp Web by QR | Books appointments and sends follow-ups (documented) | Alerts a person or routes to the team (documented) |
| Eva | Official Meta API | Gave price and deposit (we saw it); books, collects by SPEI and updates the CRM (documented) | No handoff: no handoff tool by default (we saw it) |
| Clientify | Official API or WhatsApp Web | Collects customer data toward goals (documented) | Assigns a person and leaves the chat open (documented) |
| Kommo | Official API (documented) | Updates the lead and moves its stage; booking is on Pro (documented) | Transfers the chat (documented) |
| Leadsales | Official API from Profesional | Qualifies and moves the lead through the sales stages (documented) | Hands off to the seller, who can take over (documented) |
| Wati | Official API (documented) | Handles the whole conversation; names no actions (documented) | Manual assignment in the inbox (documented) |
| Vambe | Official API (documented) | Updates your CRM, books and processes payments (advertised) | Hands to an executive in customer stories |
| Mercately | Official API (documented) | Answers from your catalog; booking listed as a use (documented) | Escalates to a person (documented) |
1. respond.io: 72 out of 100
Choose respond.io if your team works several channels, wants an agent that answers from your information, moves the contact to the next stage and hands off to a person, and can pay in dollars without a CFDI invoice. Growth, the first plan with AI agents, costs $159 USD a month billed yearly.
What we saw on October 28: we opened the 7-day Growth trial with no card and no phone number, and built an agent from the FAQ of a test furniture store. In the preview it quoted the sofa set's exact price; asked about shipping to Silao, it said it had no confirmed information and handed the conversation to a person with an internal summary; asked how to reserve a dining set, it gave the price and the deposit, told the customer not to pay in the chat and handed off as well. The channel screen offers the official WhatsApp Business API, and the account ships with lifecycle stages (New Lead, Hot Lead, Payment, Customer and Cold Lead) and usage meters.
What we could not check: the agent changing a contact or booking, since we connected no WhatsApp number and messaged nobody; that is why that criterion scores 3. respond.io documents that its agent closes conversations, assigns, updates contact fields and stages, adds comments, triggers workflows and books appointments. The account showed English and dollars, and we reached no option to pay in pesos or to get a CFDI invoice.
2. Dapta: 50 out of 100
Choose Dapta if you want text and voice agents with no-code flows that qualify prospects and pass them to HubSpot or Salesforce, and you pay in dollars without a CFDI invoice. Pro costs $99 USD a month with five users.
What we saw on October 28: nothing inside the product. We did not attempt its trial; its documentation says the 7-day Pro trial asks for a card and turns into a paid plan unless you cancel, and we used no card in these trials.
What we could not check: anything inside the product. We scored it on what Dapta publishes: connection through the official API with Meta's embedded signup, booking and quote requests as agent use cases, and an inbox that assigns a person. It documents no sales stages of its own: prospects go to an external CRM. Its documentation asks for a number not registered on WhatsApp, it bills in dollars and it publishes no CFDI invoicing.
3. Chatbase: 48 out of 100
Choose Chatbase if your agent should act on tools you already use, such as Calendly, Stripe or Shopify, and learn from your documents and website. Hobby costs $40 USD a month with five actions per agent and two members; we could not confirm the price of a third, so its cost score drops one step.
What we saw on October 28: we opened a free account and saved a test text as a source. To create the agent, signup only offered 7-day trials of paid plans, with no free choice, and the free dashboard stayed without agents. That plan screen listed Hobby with 700 message credits a month.
What we could not check: the agent, its actions and WhatsApp, since signup would not let us create an agent without a paid plan. Chatbase documents actions to book, collect payment, capture prospects and escalate to a person, and lists WhatsApp among its channels without saying whether it uses the official API. It bills in dollars and publishes no CFDI invoicing.
4. Aurora Inbox: 48 out of 100
Choose Aurora Inbox if you want to pay in pesos with a CFDI invoice and have an agent that books, sends follow-ups and alerts your team, for three people: $1,800 MXN a month plus VAT.
What we saw on October 28: nothing inside the product. We did not attempt the trial because its 7-day trial signup is paid, and we paid for nothing in these trials.
What we could not check: everything else. We scored it on what Aurora publishes: agent tools for follow-ups, routing to the team, booking, alerting a person and sending approved templates. Among them it documents no quoting and no change to the contact or the deal, which is why acting scores 1. It publishes no price for AI replies beyond the allowance.
5. Eva: 46 out of 100
Choose Eva if you want the agent to make the sale on WhatsApp: quote from your catalog, book, collect by SPEI bank transfer, create and update deals in the built-in CRM and follow up, with a CFDI invoice and the setup done by us. Eva is our product: Esencial costs $3,333 MXN a month billed yearly ($3,999 MXN month to month), plus Mexican VAT, with 5 users.
What we saw on October 28, from 8:41 to 9:13 p.m. Mexico City time: we tested it with the same case on a local copy of the current product, not in production. We created an agent without changing its default behavior and loaded the furniture store's FAQ. It quoted the sofa set's exact price; asked about shipping to Silao, it said the information only confirms free shipping in León, promising nothing; asked how to reserve the dining set, it worked out the deposit the store asks for and said it had no verified way to pay. In two of the three answers it asked for a name and mobile number to send the quote. It did not hand the conversation to a person: by default it has no handoff tool configured, and the conversation stayed unassigned, with a "Take conversation" button for the team. Each conversation created a contact with an open deal on the sales board linked to the agent. Eva has no self-serve signup and no free trial: signup is by invitation. Setup is included: we configure everything Eva does today, at no extra cost.
What we could not check: a real WhatsApp number, or the agent booking, collecting or changing a record, since we connected no calendar, payments or catalog in the test; that is why acting scores 3, what we document, like respond.io. The handoff to a person exists as a tool switched on per agent, but with the default settings it did not happen, which is why it scores 1. If you only need someone to answer questions, the chatbot list has cheaper options.
6. Clientify: 42 out of 100
Choose Clientify if you want a CRM with sales processes, email and marketing in Spanish, with AI flows that answer from your knowledge and assign a person. Todo en uno costs $39 USD a month billed yearly and includes one user; we could not confirm the price of extra users, so its cost score drops one step.
What we saw on October 28: we opened the 7-day trial with no card and confirmed the email. Signup offers Mexican pesos as the account currency and warns it cannot be changed later; we could not get the choice to save or get past that screen. Its signup menu lists WhatsApp Web as a channel.
What we could not check: WhatsApp, the AI flows and the handoff. Clientify documents flows that answer from your knowledge base, collect information and assign a person; quotes and booking links belong to the CRM, not to documented agent actions, which is why acting scores 1. Its electronic invoicing is for Spain only; it publishes no CFDI invoicing.
7. Kommo: 42 out of 100
Choose Kommo if your team already sells from a visual sales board and you want an agent that answers from your sources, updates the lead and moves it to the next stage. Avanzado costs $30 USD per user a month, with six months prepaid at least.
What we saw on October 28: the signup page advertises a 14-day full-access trial with no card. The form rejected the plus-sign alias email we used for every trial (“Enter a valid email”), so we did not get an account.
What we could not check: WhatsApp, the agent and the handoff. Kommo documents that its agent only runs configured steps: asking for information, updating the lead, starting a bot or transferring the chat; it does not edit custom fields or start conversations, and it stops replying when the AI credits run out. Booking with the agent starts on Pro, which is why acting scores 1 on Avanzado. It publishes no peso price and no CFDI invoicing.
8. Leadsales: 42 out of 100
Choose Leadsales if a small Mexican team wants an agent that qualifies WhatsApp prospects and moves them through the stages, with a peso price and a Mexican invoice. The agent is billed separately: Profesional costs $3,239.88 MXN a month and Lead Agent starts at $87 USD a month.
What we saw on October 28: the site offers a 14-day CRM trial. Signup accepted the email and password and reached “Personaliza tu cuenta”, which requires a personal WhatsApp number to send a code to; we stopped there.
What we could not check: the agent, the stages and the handoff, or whether the trial charges anything, since its page shows no trial price. Lead Agent documents replying, qualifying, moving the lead through the sales stages and passing it to your team; it documents no booking and no quoting, which is why acting scores 1. It can only be added to Profesional or Avanzado, on the official API.
9. Wati: 40 out of 100
Choose Wati if what you mostly need is the WhatsApp API with a team inbox, campaigns and an AI agent included on the entry plan: Growth costs EUR 59 a month billed yearly, ≈ MXN 1,240, with three users.
What we saw on October 28: the site advertises a 7-day trial with no card. The signup form requires a personal phone number, explicitly not the business one, and asks you to accept marketing messages; we stopped before submitting it.
What we could not check: anything inside the product. Wati publishes AI agents that handle conversations end to end and two commerce or CRM integrations on Growth, but it does not name which actions the agent takes or how it hands off; its inbox documents manual assignment. That is why acting and handoff score 1. Its page shows euros; a Mexico peso price is not verified, and it publishes no CFDI invoicing.
10. Vambe: 36 out of 100
Choose Vambe if you would rather have the vendor build the agents and flows with you over a one-month implementation and you have a dollar budget: Standard costs $431 USD a month billed yearly, plus a $600 USD implementation.
What we saw on October 28: nothing inside the product. We did not attempt a trial; its pricing page has no free trial and no online checkout, buying goes through a consultation and the first month is a paid implementation.
What we could not check: anything inside the product. Vambe advertises agents that update your CRM, book meetings and process payments, with its own sales board; the handoff to a person appears in its customer stories, not in a guide, which is why it scores 1. Its terms say the customer must review and approve what the AI answers. It bills in dollars and publishes no CFDI invoicing.
11. Mercately: 32 out of 100
Choose Mercately if you sell with a catalog, orders, PDF quotes and payment links in the same system as the agent: Scale IA costs $239 USD a month billed yearly, with five users.
What we saw on October 28: nothing inside the product. We did not attempt a trial; its pricing page offers to book a demo and publishes no free trial.
What we could not check: anything inside the product. Its agent, MIA, answers from your catalog, FAQs and guides, and escalates to a person; booking is listed as a use to train it for, without the connection's detail, and quotes and orders belong to the system, not to documented agent actions. That is why acting scores 1. It bills in dollars and publishes no CFDI invoicing.
Which one fits your case?
If you want to try an agent today that answers, moves the contact to the next stage and hands off to a person, across channels and in dollars: respond.io.
If you need the agent to quote from your catalog, book, collect payment and log it all in the CRM, with CFDI invoices and the setup done by us: Eva.
If you want voice agents as well as text and to send prospects to HubSpot or Salesforce: Dapta. If your agent should use Calendly, Stripe or Shopify: Chatbase.
If paying in pesos with a CFDI invoice outweighs everything else: Aurora Inbox or Eva. If your team already sells from a visual sales board: Kommo or Leadsales.
If you only need someone to answer questions rather than act, a chatbot is enough and costs less: compare on the list of AI chatbots for WhatsApp.
How and when did we test?
On October 28, 2026, between 2:43 and 4:34 p.m. New York time, we tried to open a trial account at six of these tools with the same case: a furniture store in León, Mexico, with three customer questions (the price of a sofa set, shipping to Silao and how to reserve a dining set). We used no card, no WhatsApp number and no real contacts, and we messaged nobody.
Only respond.io let us build an agent: we saw it give the price, admit it knew nothing about shipping and hand the conversation to a person with a summary. We did not see it quote against a catalog, book or change a contact, since there were no contacts and no WhatsApp connected. We did not attempt Dapta, Mercately or Vambe, nor Aurora Inbox, whose trial is paid. We tested Eva, our product, with the same case that evening on a local copy of the current product: it answered all three questions without inventing anything, but with the default settings it did not hand the conversation to a person.
What we could not test anywhere: connecting a real WhatsApp number, the agent booking or changing a record with a real customer, and receiving a CFDI invoice. We review this list every month; the next review is on November 28, 2026.

Methodology
Methodology
- EvaAI publishes this list and sells Eva; the disclosure comes before the list and Eva is scored by the same rules.
- The order is the sum of points; a tie goes to the cost score, then to the lower peso amount.
- Prices: the cheapest plan with WhatsApp and the AI agent for three people, before tax, in the vendor's currency and converted at the ECB rates of October 22, 2026. Wati publishes no verified Mexico peso price, so its euro card is shown.
- The “Price read” column is the day the price index re-read the amount, or the vendor fact sheet's date when the tool is not in the index.
- Not included: Darwin AI, which publishes no price (it sends a commercial proposal), and Meta's business agent, which today activates only for eligible businesses in some markets and whose paid subscriptions are announced but not published. Manychat and Whaticket are scored on the chatbot list: their fact sheets record no agent that books, quotes or changes a record on its own.
- What we saw in the October 28, 2026 trials comes from the screenshots of each signup, which we do not publish because they show the trial account's details; what we did not see is stated on each card and scored on what the vendor publishes.
- Monthly review; the next one is on November 28, 2026.
